The Game of Poker

Poker is a kind of card game whereby players bet that they hold the highest ranking card. This is an interesting game that is often played among friends and colleagues.

In Poker, the player should keep on guessing the rival hand. The players usually gamble on the value and strength of their hands. It has to be kept in mind that best combination of 5 cards always wins.

Some common varieties of Poker can be mentioned as a showdown where presentation and also comparison of the players’ card is done. Betting is also included in the list. Another one is community or shared cards. The winner usually shows the highest combination in hands.

The winner takes all the cash from the pot. Poker can make players poor or – sometimes - rich. There is a simple rule of the game. A dealer shuffles the cards and deals (or distributes) them among the players. The players continue to receive one card each time until they hold in their hands either five or seven cards. The game starts with a least amount bet. That means all the players or gamblers throw the decided wager into the pot. The game goes through various rounds. In these rounds, all the players are capable of changing cards, deciding on a bet and also calling. Eventually, the player with high ranked cards gets the whole amount from the pot. Several kinds of poker can be played such as draw poker, community card, 5 card draw, 7 card draw, stud poker etc.
